Penguin Jokes (conversation) Reflection

How would you describe broadcast to someone else?

  • broadcasting is making a sprite wait until another sprite do something and then triggers it to do an action afterwards.

When would you use time in a project? When would you use broadcasting?

  • I would use timing when they sprites are doing actions. I would sue broadcasting when they are supposed to be talking to each other.

Making Blocks Reflection

How would you explain "Make A Block" to someone else?

  • I would say it's putting a bunch of commands of your own inside one block that you create. Looking at it it would look like something is 'Flying', but behind that block that you made are a lot of other commands that aren't seen.
When might you use "Make A Block"?
  • I would use make a block if my script is too long and I want to organize it better so it can make more sense.

Debug It's Reflection

What was one debugging strategy that you used?

  • I used trial and error a lot when trying to debug things. I tried many different options before I found the one that worked the best.

How would you help someone else learn how to debug a project?

  • I would help them by having them try all the possibilities to fix the project and then have them look more closely on the one that makes most sense.

10 Block Challenge- Relfection

How does this activity help you learn Scratch?

  • Doing this activity was helpful because it made me more comfortable with the commands what each one does.

How does the 10 block restraint impact your ideas?

  • Only being able to use 10 blocks was difficult because there was limited things that the cat could do, even if I wanted it to do more.

Try It Out- Reflection

What was surprising about the activity?

  • I thought that putting it all together for a final product was different than what I thought it would be like. I also was surprised by name "Costume" and "Sprite". I sometimes get those mixed up.

How did it feel to be led step-by-step though the activity?

  • I like being led step-by-step by YouTube videos because you are able to pause it and figure it out on your own, without it going to fast.

As a learner (with Scratch and beyond), when do you like having more structure?

  • I like having more structure when it comes to certain directions and what should be on our blog.

When do you like having more freedom?

  • I like having more freedom when we can try things out and make them unique and reflect who you are.

When do you feel most creative?

  • I like to feel most creative when we can make pretty much whatever scene we want to, as long as it follows the certain requirements. I don't like when we have to make a scene that's exactly like someones else.
